Hello! Thank you for visiting Recipes by Appy. If you are reading this then we already have one thing in common – our love for delicious food! I am a wife and a mom of two beautiful daughters living in suburban California. I manage and lead a Customer Success team for a SaaS AI company based out of San Francisco, CA. Recipes by Appy is more than just a hobby, it’s my passion.

How it all began…

Being born and brought up in Indore (a street food capital of India), my love for food started with indian street foods like chaats, samosas, kachories, and how can one forget the world famous Indori poha-jalebi.. Yumm! As a kid, I always wondered how certain foods, when mixed together, can create such different flavors.. Kind of similar to how when 2 colors are mixed, they create a completely new color. I started experimenting with food at the age of 7 where I would help my mom make chapatis with a rolling pin and found myself helping my brother make maggi! My favorite time of the year is the Diwali festivities where I would look forward to making yummy snacks with my mom.

The moment I knew I wanted to pursue my passion for food further..

When I was in 7th grade, my school had organized a salad decoration competition. I took part in that and won first prize. That very moment inspired me to choose hospitality for higher education. Soon after, I found myself pursuing my studies at the International Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata. During my time in Kolkata, I broadened my knowledge about Bengali food and learned about various different flavors, spices and cooking methods.. This is where I learned the basics of culinary arts, and when I embarked on my journey to explore different cultures, cuisines, foods, flavors and spices. I travelled across India, Europe and I’m now settled in the United States of America.

Recipes by Appy was born..

Over the years, I have carefully learned and documented my recipes. Most of the recipes on this blog are geared towards everyday home cooked meals that your entire family can enjoy and are easy to put together with items easily available in your pantry. My focus is on Indian and fusion foods and I guarantee that my recipes will keep you satisfied for years to come.
