Burger Buns Recipe

Yields: 8 Servings Difficulty: Medium Prep Time: 25 Mins Cook Time: 15 Mins Total Time: 40 Mins

I honestly am a baker in the making. I have always been super fascinated by the entire baking process from activating the yeast to the freshly baked goods. This recipe is a spinoff of my Ladi pav recipe. I hope you enjoy it and remember to tag #recipesbyappy to let me know how it turns out.

The resting time for this recipe is about 2 hours and yields 8 buns. Trust me, it is worth the wait..

  • Firstly, in a small bowl, activate the yeast by adding luke warm water + sugar and 1 tbsp yeast and let it sit for 10 mins until it foams a little.
  • Then mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add 1 large egg and mix.
  • Now add the activated yeast.
  • Mix well and make a soft dough. Gradually add butter after the dough forms and cover and keep aside at a room temperature for about 2 hours or until the dough doubles in size.
  • Dough doubles. Now puncture the dough and make 8 small balls.
  • Now place the 8 small dough balls in a non stick greased baking tray and cover. Let it sit for another 15-20 mins.
  • Heat the oven to 380 F. As your oven preheats, you can sprinkle the dough balls with some sesame seeds or plain butter. Then brush the top with egg white wash. Egg white wash gives that beautiful glistening brown color to these buns.
  • Now bake for 16 minutes and enjoy these buns with some home made burgers!
